Model with a laptopMacenstein has announced their December Mac Chick of the Month. She's a 23-year-old model. And her name is Morgan Kennedy—no, it's too late to act like you care about that part. She wins a 16GB iPod Touch. And hopefully she can sell it to buy a blanket...it's freaking December, does she want to catch pneumonia or something? Bonus pic after the jump.

Speaking of $300 OLPC killers, the SF Chronicle's reporting that the $299 Asus Eee PC 2G Surf has officially launched.

It has half the storage space and RAM of the 4G models, plus it's soldered on, so noodling around's dicier. The Fresno school system's already handing out 1,000 of 'em loaded up with Windows and Microsoft programs (!) to students; they picked the Eees 'cause they're tiny and cheap. And, it's an actual OLPC snub.

Unlike the mildly unfair outmatched spec showdown—to be fair, it lost on interface and ease-of-use points too—this is an arena where they're in direct competition, since Negroponte has been pushing them to school systems in the states to make up for lackluster sales abroad. Then again, Alabama is more like a Third World country. Also!

The beefier Eee PC 8G model, which had been priced and dated for this month has landed in Newegg's stock shelves, ready for their elves to ship 'em out to you for $500. The extra $100 nets you double storage and memory, in case you didn't want to join the army of modders adding all kinds of crazy shit to it like Cartman's trapper keeper.

Harrypotter unintended HD DVD
The hi def DVD industry never fails to disappoint. Because now even the consumers who are versed in the differences between Blu-ray and HD DVD—those who can tell a blue box from a red one with ease—are also getting shat on by a mixed up industry. Numerous reports have surfaced that a new $100+ Harry Potter box set has a fourth disc in HD DVD format—that's Goblet of Fire for those interested. It looks like even Warner Bros' conservative route of supporting both formats has its risks.

Nokia has launched Medeo, a new ad-supported mobile entertainment portal designed to keep Nokia users entertained while on the go.

Medeo can be accessed on your Nokia device by visiting www.nokia.mobi and will have content to include “everything from red carpet news, interviews with your favorite TV and movie stars, film trailers, fashion and music.” The content will focus mainly on Hollywood but will also offer news and highlights from other events such as the Berlin and Cannes Film Festivals. Nokia also has plans to add more content in the future making it appealing to a global audience with more worldwide content.

Nokia launches Medeo entertainment portalMedeo is currently available and will work on the Nokia Nseries and Eseries devices, other devices that have video streaming capability will be compatible shortly. Seems to be a great idea, but a quick visit to the mobile Nokia site does not reveal much available content, the service is still new so hopefully the available content will increase.

Nintendo establish raincheck program for WiiThis one's just hitting the wires folks, but apparently, Nintendo has established an official raincheck program to somewhat alleviate the Wii shortage frustrations that are sure to overwhelm those scouting one for the holidays. Details are scant at the moment, but we do know that Nintendo of America will be partnering with GameStop to allow patient buyers to fork out $249 up front in exchange for a guaranteed Wii "by the end of January."

You have the opportunity to voice your opinion on Microsoft's original Zune back in August, so it's only fair that the new kids on the block get their turn in the ring, too. This go 'round, however, we're adding a little twist -- focus your attention on the flash-based iterations only. The diminutive Zune 4 and Zune 8 were probably more highly anticipated than their HDD-based siblings, and considering that the rumors were literally all over the map leading up to the release, we can't say anything really shocked us when launch day came and went. Granted, we were a bit bummed to find that these wouldn't feature TV outputs, but hey, at least we got the option of adding more than just two lines of text to the thing's rear, right?

Microsoft flash Zune 4 and Zune 8 snapsBy now, you've had more than ample time to give the flash-based Zune of your choice some serious play.

Zumobi, Microsoft spinoff formerly known ZenZuiZumobi, the Microsoft (NSDQ: MSFT) spinoff formerly known as ZenZui, launched the beta version of its widget-based content browser today. The app, which is available to US users of Windows Mobile 5 and 6 devices, has an interface based on zooming: the UI features 16 “tiles”, which are essentially widgets that offer access to a particular provider’s content or service. Users can customize the tiles they have by choosing from a gallery of 80 or so on the Zumobi site, and their tiles get updated in the background, so content is stored on the device and users don’t have to wait for it to load. Developers can create their own tiles with an SDK, and beginning in 2008, they’ll be able to submit them to Zumobi’s gallery. The company also says support for BlackBerry and some J2ME devices will come in the second quarter of next year. Initial content partners include Amazon, (NSDQ: AMZN) MTV Networks, (NYSE: VIA) AP, Accuweather.com and Traffic.com. Release

Zumobi says its intention is to make it easier for users to access highly focused bits of information without having to wait for web sites to load. Of course, there are plenty of other widget platforms and RSS readers with the same goal. The point of differentiation is the UI, with Zumobi convinced that the zooming interface is the best way forward, regardless of a device’s form factor. While the app does seem to make content access relatively simple, the interface requires users to first zoom in on a 4x4 block of tiles before choosing the individual one they want to see, as one review on CNET points out, adding that the interface is highly polished, but feels overcomplicated.

Magazine calls Bungie's latest gaming effort the "perfect" shooter and "graphically gorgeous."

"In one of the greatest years video gaming has ever seen, Halo 3 is the very best of the bunch," writes Lev Grossman, author of TIME's Top 10 Video Games of 2007. Grossman called Bungie's latest effort the "perfect" shooter and "graphically gorgeous."

Master Chief was so good, in fact, that he outranked The Orange Box, Rock Band, and Super Mario Galaxy -- all of which hold a greater average review score on Metacritic.

Other considerations on TIME's list include BioShock, Call of Duty 4, Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass, Mass Effect, Ace Combat 6, and God of War 2.
